2027 Lean in China - Study Mission

Most people only read or watch videos about high-level lean cultures. This is your chance to step inside one.

From 30 March to 1 April 2027, a small group of 10 will spend two and a half days on the floor of the 'Springfree Trampoline' factory in China where improvement isn't a program. It's how the place breathes. This factory captures 80 to 100 improvement opportunities a day, and you'll see exactly how.

This isn't a bus tour with a polite walk past the machines. You'll work alongside the people who make it happen:

  • Join their morning meeting, run with the precision of a finished product

  • Do an Ohno Circle with the team, a deep, focused look at one area that shows you more than a week of reports

  • Gemba walk with a cross-department team

  • Take part in their 3S time, where the whole floor stops to sort, sweep and standardise together

  • Break down their improvement system, how suggestions are captured, analysed, decided and fed back, including the ones that get rejected and why

  • And so much more...

You'll leave with ideas you can use on Monday. More importantly, you'll leave having felt what a deeply respectful, high-performing lean culture is like. Being welcomed into a place like this is a genuine privilege, and with only 10 seats, an opportunity not to be missed.

Investment: $1,699 per person

Included: Transport from Hong Kong to the factory and back, accommodation, and all meals.
Not included: Flights to and from Hong Kong.
Meet: Hong Kong Airport, Monday 29 March 2027.

Limited to 10 places, maximum 2 per organisation. Participants are selected to ensure the right mix for the group.

Register your interest now, and full details will be sent to selected participants.

Paddy Lynch

"I came to kickstart our lean journey. I've been to many factories in China, and the step change in Norm's factory compared to what I've seen elsewhere is phenomenal. In Japan lean is the natural culture. Here it's not normal, so it's really cool to see what Norm has achieved. I'd definitely send some of my team, and I'd come again myself."

"I came not knowing quite what to expect, but knowing that I needed it. After moving factories, restarting lean has been a struggle, and I needed inspiration from seeing how others do it. The standard here is something I want to take home to my team. It wasn't a two or three-hour tour. It was a deep dive into how they work, and it was absolutely awesome."

"I came to support my husband Caleb on his lean journey, and I learned so much. People were very generous with their time, showing everything from the tiny details of lean to the big picture. The most important thing for me was seeing that lean is about the people and the culture you create. They care about their people, and that's what makes lean work."
